Echoing President XI Jinping’s repeated calls for deeper reforms and building a "moderately prosperous (xiaokang) society," China has undergone changes in various areas of her domestic and foreign policies since 2012. What are the effects and implications of the policy revamp for China’s domestic economy and its relationship with the global community? The conference provides an opportunity to assess both the goals and the progress of these policy changes towards the stated goals.

Specifically, the conference aims to evaluate China's developments along different dimensions, including macroeconomic developments as well as structural and financial market reforms. It provides a platform for disseminating current research on China’s macro economy and financial markets, financial liberalization, integration with the global financial markets, and the related implications for the global economy. Possible topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Developments in China’s economy
  • Developments in domestic financial markets
  • China’s structural and financial market reforms
  • Opening Chinese financial markets to the world
  • The renminbi policy and global monetary system
  • China's enterprise behavior and corporate governance
  • The Belt and Road Initiative

Those interested in presenting at the conference should send a complete paper or an extended abstract in WORD or PDF format via email to china2019(at)bof.fi by 13 May 2019.
